How I helped Cart24 to launch their online store? My journey as a web developer from Kerala
You know how important an e-commerce store is in this era. One day, a small clothing business from Kerala approached me with a simple dream – “We need to take our business from offline to online.”
That’s how my journey with cart24 began
The journey from offline to online
Cart24 was a local seller offering shirts, pants, watches, sandals, and bags – all men’s products, but they were only selling them offline, with no website or online sales.
They wanted a platform where people could browse their products, place orders, and pay – all from their phones or computers. And they wanted it to be simple, clean, and easy to manage.
That’s where I stepped in as a freelance web designer in Kerala with experience in building functional, elegant websites for small businesses.
Who am I? How did I build the cart24 website?
I’m Muhammed Ashif K, a web developer from Kerala. Specializing in building websites using modern tools like WordPress, Shopify, and MERN Stack.
For this project, I chose WordPress and WooCommerce because they’re perfect for small and medium-scale product catalogs.
It’s easy for business owners to manage without needing any coding knowledge, which means they can update products or prices anytime.
The platform also supports a clean, responsive design and allows for quick deployment. Plus, it comes with built-in features like product categories, search, filtering, and a user-friendly cart system.
How did I build UI and UX?
Designing Cart24 meant creating a simple online store with a local, personal touch. The Cart24 team didn’t want a complex, Flipkart-style e-commerce platform. Instead, they wanted their products to be clearly visible online, with an easy way for customers to browse, add items to a cart, and then contact them directly via WhatsApp or Instagram to place an order.
I used Elementor along with some custom HTML and CSS to design a clean, responsive layout that looked great on both desktop and mobile.
I set up WooCommerce to manage the product catalog, organize items into categories like shirts, pants, watches, and bags, and provide a simple admin panel for updating content.
I also connected the order flow directly to WhatsApp, making it quick and seamless for customers to place their orders in a way they’re already comfortable with.
Why This Model Works for Cart24
This isn’t a high-tech solution with online payments or shipping APIs. It’s a hybrid model: part website and part social commerce. That blends the familiarity of local business with the reach of an online store.
Customers visit the site, browse comfortably, and place orders through WhatsApp or Instagram.
Why I'm Sharing This Story
Many small businesses in Kerala still think building a website is a big, expensive task. But with the right approach, it doesn’t have to be. This project shows that even a small clothing store can go digital without complexity.
And as a web developer in Kerala, I’m proud to be part of that change one website at a time.
